KMeans SuperTrend

The clustering idea: quiet tape vs expanded tape, then a SuperTrend that uses that ATR.

Schematic layout — not a live chart.

What it is

KMeans SuperTrend on this library is the k-means ATR story behind Wilson Adaptive SuperTrend. Recent ATR is grouped into three clusters (volatility guesses 0.75 / 0.50 / 0.25 on a train window). Quiet tape gets a tighter trail; expanded tape gets more room. The overlay you actually load in ATAS (category Wilson) is ML Adaptive SuperTrend — named Wilson Adaptive SuperTrend on this site. Read this page as the regime logic; use the Adaptive SuperTrend manual for the frozen Pine look (green/red ST, fill, flip labels, cluster table). A cluster change is a volatility label, not a reverse command. Educational regime overlay only. Not financial advice.

What to look for

  • Cluster 1 / 2 / 3: compressed vs mid vs expanded ATR — the trail should look different in each
  • Centroid / Size / Now on the cluster table: which regime is live, and whether it just flipped
  • A SuperTrend flip after a real expansion, not a one-bar spike that immediately flips back
  • Price riding the band in trend; repeated flips in a range — clusters will keep switching
  • Agreement with a slower filter (Laguerre or the Timeframe Matrix long stack) before you study a continuation

Settings that matter

  • ATR 10 · SuperTrend factor 3 · train 100 — the frozen Adaptive SuperTrend defaults; do not retune every session
  • Three vol guesses (0.75 / 0.50 / 0.25) — that is the k=3 split; leave it unless you are studying the math
  • K-means runs once per bar on the last version, not every tick
  • This site card is the clustering idea; Wilson Adaptive SuperTrend is the chart overlay last version

Common mistake

Reversing on every SuperTrend flip or treating a cluster tint that is not on the last version as a signal. The frozen Adaptive SuperTrend is green/red only — no hysteresis, no cluster-colored line. Use clustering as a trail-width regime, then wait for confluence.
