Laguerre Filter Levels

Schematic layout — not a live chart.

What it is

Laguerre Filter Levels is an overlay port of mladen’s ATR-adaptive Laguerre: a smooth filter plus trailing up and down levels, with an optional fill between them. Period default 14; Levels period ≤1 uses the same length as the filter. Price source can be Close, Typical, Median, and the other ATAS sources. Higher Timeframe (minutes) default 15 aggregates from the host chart (not a second feed); HTF Drawing Mode is Steps (holds the last HTF value) or Slope. Use the filter as a regime and trail reference: pullbacks that hold the active level are study material; closes through it are a reason to stand down. It lags by design — that is the point. Educational structure overlay only. Not financial advice.

What to look for

  • Price holding the up or down trail on a pullback while the filter still slopes with the idea
  • A clean roll of the filter (color/slope change) after a stretch, not a whip through a flat filter
  • HTF 15m (or your HTF minutes) still pointing the same way while the chart TF tags a trail
  • Fill between up and down levels: expanding in trend, collapsing in chop
  • Chop: filter flat and price crossing it repeatedly — no trade environment
  • Steps vs Slope on the HTF overlay: Steps is a stepped slower path; Slope interpolates between HTF closes

Settings that matter

  • Period 14 (default) — too tight and it is a noisy MA; too loose and it never turns
  • Levels period ≤1 = same as filter; raise it only if you want a slower trail than the filter
  • Price: Typical or Close are the usual reads; do not switch mid-session
  • Show filled zones / Show Up Level / Show Down Level — keep the trail you actually use
  • Higher Timeframe (minutes) default 15 — chart TF must be faster than this column to fill it
  • HTF Drawing Mode: Steps (default) or Slope
  • Session so the filter does not inherit overnight gaps you are not studying

Common mistake

Chasing every touch of the filter as an entry. Touches in a flat, crossing filter are chop. Wait for slope plus a hold, and know where the idea is wrong. Do not treat the 15m HTF overlay as a separate 15m chart feed — it is aggregated from the host bars.
